I've been a bit adrift from fandom spaces since the great LJ strikethrough. Have been trying to make it work on tumblr, but thought I'd stop in here and see if I can find that great fandom community that's missing on the other sites.

…of queuing things up and not knowing if they’ll ever see the light of day. For those of you who feel a little spammed by my reblogs, I’m just trying to get the timely and/or important stuff seen before the potential END.

At work they talk about important leadership skills, like being comfortable with ambiguity. Pro tip: there’s no such thing. Even something as small as losing a (cherished, years-long) fandom blog is saddening and uncomfortable.

Last night I read an article on the inevitability of climate change. It’s huge and powerful and more important than just about anything else in the world. And yet, I’m still sad that I’m likely going to lose my tumblr blog, and that my fandom and friends are once again being scattered and lost.

Ambiguity sucks. Loss hurts. Everyone take a minute and spam some kittens and be kind to each other.

Yay I got my access code today! Good news, I got my same user name. Bad news, the poor PillowServers are just about having heart attacks every time I gently ask them to search for something. It's a process...

You know, in all the time I was on tumblr, I maybe made 10 original posts. It wasn't a site that really encouraged folk like me to ramble on. Usually reblogging fun content was enough, and I enjoyed the memes and whatnot. I hope that even if fandom settles somewhere without gif-sets and all the rest, that I'll still be able to keep up on new fun things that aren't strictly speaking, fannish.

But I've missed writing my thoughts down. Whether anyone reads them or not isn't really important - but having a platform where I don't automatically feel dumb for doing so because no one reblogged it or something - yeah. It's nice to be here.

Anyway - I'm in love with Elementary, and can't wait for S7 to come out. Rewatching S2, Art in the Blood. Seeing how Sherlock is desperate to be close to Joan, to use all his senses to make sure that she's safe and unharmed after she was abducted by Mycroft's "business partners", makes me really want to see an Elementary/TS crossover. I wonder if anyone's ever written one?

IMO this is heartbreaking. In such a short time and with so much else going on, Eddie still felt like he’d connected with someone who GOT him. And he’s so betrayed when he realizes how deeply he was used.

And to me this isn’t married squabbling. This is ultimatum level betrayal, and the betrayer needs to fundamentally change how they approach relationships before they can have a second chance.

And maybe, aside from missing her and realizing how badly he fucked up, it’s the first time Eddie viscerally understands how Annie felt when he used her.

Which sets up a really interesting dynamic here. Anne isn’t present in the gifs above, but her influence is tangible. The parallels of Annie setting healthy boundaries and leaving Eddie, and Eddie doing the same here with Venom, are clear. Heck, she’s the one who literally “pushed the botton” and brought Eddie’s and Venom’s first, unhealthy stab at a relationship to an end.

Eddie never put in the effort to stop being a leech on Anne’s life. They loved each other, but she’s the one who did most/all of the emotional heavy lifting. But Venom, who seems to understand how human interactions work better than Eddie (maybe because he’s been in a few more brains than Eddie?) understands immediately what he had, and what he lost.

Interestingly, Venom bonds to Anne for a short time, and I have to think that he learned from her all the things she wished Eddie had learned - all the ways Eddie could have won her back, but never leveled up enough as bf material to try.

Anyway. This is clearly two lovers suffering the end of their relationship. Fortunately for those of us who like happy endings, these two idiots get a second chance with each other.

So I was looking at this picture, and I can’t believe I’ve never really noticed the scars before. I mean, I’m low key obsessed with this sentient pile of goo, so you’d think I’d have noticed. Also, I haven’t seen any fic referencing them either.

The blue in the middle of the back, and the white scars radiating out their back and down the arm. That’s where Riot stabbed and killed Eddie.

This was such a huge physical trauma that either A) Venom is still trying to heal Eddie from it, and the result is their scars are still visible or B) Venom is psychologically scarred because EDDIE’S psychologically scarred by it and it manifests as scars in their shared form.

I know in a meta way that the white pattern is supposed to be an homage to the Spider pattern from the character’s origin of being rejected by, and hating, Peter Parker. Thank god the movie-verse has jettisoned that pile of unwieldy emotional crap.

But in-universe there’s no other reason for that blue lump of scar tissue RIGHT WHERE THE KILLING BLOW went in except for the fight with Riot.

I think imma need to write a fic about this. I haven’t written fic since S1 of Voltron, before it all went so sideways. This should be interesting.

Oh man. I can totally see Ganondorf getting behind this kind of policy. And he thinks it’s fair because he’s putting his own (invincibly super powered) butt on the line.

I wonder if Zelda will come to terms with this, or at least have the Wisdom to let him save face in public before stopping the games?

Look at this gorgeously lovely art. Not only is it subtle, hinting at the motivations and actions of the characters, but it clearly conveys emotion and an ongoing story without ever even showing their faces. This is the sort of art that inspires whole novels to be written around it.
