When I first decided, "Well, that's enough of tumblr's fuckery-- I'm out," I felt mostly relief. It was like cutting a rope, burning off a dead stump. I was out!
But as I've been going through my blog and finding the posts that I want to preserve, I got sadder. Tumblr was almost seven years of my life, and it's over. Some of it sucked-- increasingly toward the end-- or maybe it just seemed that way, as all the little annoyances had piled up-- but lots of it was good. I enjoyed it, or why else would I have done it? I gave it my time. I was, if nothing else, comfortable there.
And other people made decisions that took that comfort away from us.
I petted my cat for you, and he licked my hand for a while. <3
